SLA resin 3D printing in Dubai — high-detail printed part by Orbit3D
Technology Guide

SLA & Resin 3D Printing. Where detail is non-negotiable.

Stereolithography cures liquid resin with a UV laser, layer by layer — producing near-polished surfaces and detail no filament process can reach. This is the technology behind our marine models, dental work and jewellery patterns.

How SLA Works

Light-Cured, Layer by Layer

Photopolymerization in three stages — from sliced file to UV-finished part.

01

Design & Preparation

Slicing and orientation planned for detail, supports and surface priorities.

02

Laser Curing

A UV laser selectively hardens liquid resin, building the part layer by layer.

03

Wash & UV Finish

Alcohol wash removes uncured resin; final UV curing locks in full properties.

The Honest Version

What SLA Is Great At — and Where It Isn't

Advantages

  • Extreme precision — fine features and crisp edges
  • Near-polished surfaces with minimal layer lines
  • Intricate geometry: miniatures, filigree, thin walls
  • Versatile resins — tough, flexible, clear, high-temp
  • Excellent master patterns for silicone molds

Trade-Offs

  • Resin costs more than filament (AED 184–367/liter)
  • Wash + UV cure add post-processing to every job
  • Standard resins are more brittle than FDM parts
  • Smaller build volumes than the FDM farm
  • Prolonged sunlight keeps curing parts — indoor duty preferred

What We Print with SLA

The Showpiece Technology

High-fidelity prototypes with production-quality finish, dental and medical models, surgical guides and aligner work, jewellery casting patterns with clean edges, miniatures and presentation models — everywhere accuracy, detail and aesthetics are non-negotiable. Proof: the presentation yacht hulls we built for a marine industry group came off these machines.

FAQ

SLA & Resin Printing — Common Questions

Is SLA the same as "resin printing"?

Yes — SLA (and its DLP cousins) is what people mean by resin 3D printing: UV light curing liquid photopolymer. One technology page, because splitting them would only split the answer.

How much finer is SLA than FDM?

Layers reach 0.05 mm versus FDM's typical 0.1–0.3 mm, and the laser resolves features filament nozzles physically can't — text, filigree and textures survive a jeweller's loupe.

Are SLA parts strong enough to use?

Standard resins favour beauty over brawn; tough grades approach ABS behaviour. For hard functional duty we'll honestly point you to MJF nylon.

What does SLA cost?

Above FDM — driven by resin costs (AED 184–367/liter) and mandatory post-processing. The cost guide has the full picture, or request a quote for exact pricing.

Which resin grade fits my part?

Standard for models, tough for handled prototypes, flexible for gaskets, clear for optics, high-temp for heat — the resin guide maps them all.
