ABS — Common Questions
ABS or PLA — how do I choose?
PLA for looks, speed and price; ABS for toughness, heat and paintability. If the part gets handled, dropped or warmed, ABS earns its premium.
Does ABS warp?
It can on large flat sections — our enclosed, temperature-controlled printing and per-job orientation planning keep it flat. That's the difference a professional farm makes.
Can ABS parts be painted to look production-made?
Yes — ABS is the best painting substrate we run: sand, prime, paint via post-processing and it reads as injection-moulded.
Is ABS OK for the UAE outdoors?
Heat, mostly yes; UV, no — sunlight degrades it. For exterior UAE use specify ASA, which keeps ABS's toughness and adds UV stability.
How much does ABS cost vs PLA?
