What PC Buys Over Everything Else

Polycarbonate leads printable thermoplastics on the two numbers engineers fight for: impact strength (it deforms rather than shatters) and heat deflection comfortably above ABS. Parts survive abuse that cracks lesser polymers.

When do I actually need PC over ABS or PETG?

When impact or sustained heat exceeds their class — machine guards, abuse-tested prototypes, warm-environment brackets. If PETG survives your duty, we'll say so and save you the premium.

Is printed PC as strong as injection-moulded PC?

Strong, but layer adhesion means directional properties — we orient prints against the load path and say honestly when moulded or machined PC is the safer call.

Why do many services not offer PC?

It demands high-temperature, enclosed, tuned printing — desktop setups warp and delaminate it. Farm-grade environment control is the difference.

PC or carbon-filled nylon?
