Why PA12 Runs Our Production Floor

PA12 combines strength, wear resistance and chemical tolerance in a material that powder-bed processes print without supports — meaning interlocking assemblies, internal channels and organic geometry come out of the printer finished and functional.

On the HP Jet Fusion 4200 it delivers near-isotropic mechanical properties batch after batch — the consistency end-use production demands, at quantities tooling can't justify.

Nylon PA12 — Common Questions

Is PA12 really production-quality?

Yes — MJF PA12 parts are near-isotropic, consistent across batches, and run today in automotive, industrial and consumer products worldwide. It's the material we mean when we say end-use.

Why does PA12 need no supports?

Powder-bed printing surrounds every layer with unfused powder that acts as support — enabling interlocking parts, internal channels and geometry FDM can't print.

Glass-filled or standard PA12?

Standard for toughness and general duty; glass-filled when stiffness and dimensional stability under load matter more than impact resistance. We'll recommend per part.

Can PA12 parts be coloured or sealed?

Yes — black dyeing is standard and uniform; sealing improves moisture and stain resistance for demanding service environments.

When does PA12 beat injection moulding?

Below roughly 1,000 units, or whenever the geometry needs powder-bed freedom — above that, moulding usually wins and we'll say so.
