Additive manufacturing for energy

Cut downtime and lead times with on-demand 3D printing

In oil and gas, a single missing part can stall an entire operation. Additive manufacturing changes the maths — turning weeks of waiting on imported components into parts produced locally, in days.

Orbit3D is a Dubai-based additive-manufacturing studio delivering 3D printing services across the UAE. For the energy sector we produce functional prototypes, custom jigs and tooling, reverse-engineered legacy parts, and detailed facility and rig models — engineered for the conditions your equipment actually runs in.

Because our in-house engineering and design team prepares and validates every file, and our additive manufacturing line spans four technologies, we can match the right polymer and process to each application. New here? Start with more about Orbit3D.

3D printed solutions for oil & gas

Across upstream, midstream and downstream operations, these are the parts, tools and models we produce most for energy-sector clients in the UAE.

Functional prototypes

Validate fit, form and function with accurate prototypes before committing to expensive tooling, machining or fabrication.

Jigs, fixtures & tooling

Custom assembly aids, alignment guides, gauges and protective tooling built around your specific equipment and workflows.

Obsolete & hard-to-source parts

Reverse-engineer and reproduce discontinued polymer components to keep ageing assets and legacy equipment running.

Housings, brackets & enclosures

Non-critical housings, mounts, spacers, covers and cable management in durable engineering polymers, made to spec.

Cutaway & training models

Sectioned and exploded models that explain valves, pumps, manifolds and processes for HSE briefings and operator training.

Facility, rig & plant models

Detailed scale models of rigs, refineries, modules and plants for design reviews, tenders, stakeholder briefings and exhibitions.

The right process for the part

Four technologies, matched to your application

Energy-sector parts have to perform. We select the additive process and material that best balance strength, detail, heat and chemical resistance for each job — all run in-house.

01

FDM

Economical, robust thermoplastic parts for larger tooling, fixtures and models where toughness matters.

FDM 3D printing →
02

SLA / Resin

Fine-detail prototypes and high-temperature resins for components exposed to elevated heat.

SLA 3D printing →
03

SLS / Nylon

Strong, support-free PA12 and glass-filled nylon for durable, functional, geometry-rich parts.

SLS 3D printing →

Materials & finishing

Engineering polymers built for demanding conditions

Oil and gas environments are unforgiving — heat, oils, fuels and aggressive media. We work with high-performance polymers and composites and select the right grade for your operating conditions.

PA12 nylon Glass-filled nylon Carbon-fibre composite High-temp resin Chemical-resistant resin Tough / ABS-like
High-temperature polymersMaterials engineered to hold their shape and strength near heat-exposed equipment.
Chemical & corrosion resistanceResins and nylons selected to resist oils, fuels and harsh process media.
Reinforced & rigidGlass- and carbon-filled grades for stiffness, strength and dimensional stability.
ESD-safe & flame-retardantStatic-dissipative and FR-grade material options available on request.
Industrial finishingSanding, sealing, painting and clear labelling via our post-processing studio.
QC & inspectionDimensional checks against your drawings before every part is dispatched.

Material selection is application-specific — our 3D printing material guide explains the options, and finishing is handled by our painting & post-processing team. End-use and load-bearing parts are scoped to your application; where a part isn't suited to its conditions, we'll tell you and recommend the right route.

How it works

From part or drawing to delivery in six steps

A clear, accountable workflow — including a route for parts you no longer have CAD files for.

STEP 01

Brief & files

Share drawings, STEP / IGES / STL files (or the physical part and photos) plus the operating conditions and quantity.

STEP 02

Scan / rebuild

No model? We rebuild from drawings or 3D scan the part and reverse-engineer it to spec.

STEP 03

Material & process

We recommend the right polymer, technology and finish for your conditions, then send a fixed quote and timeline.

STEP 04

Printing

Your part is produced on the best-suited FDM, SLA, SLS or MJF system — single piece or modular.

STEP 05

Finishing & QC

Post-processing, dimensional checks and labelling via our finishing studio.

STEP 06

Delivery

Securely packed and delivered across the UAE, with low-volume repeat runs on request.

Good to know

Oil & gas 3D printing — FAQs

Can you reproduce an obsolete or discontinued part?
Yes. Send us a sample, a drawing or even a worn part and we'll 3D scan and reverse-engineer it, then reproduce it in a suitable engineering polymer — ideal for keeping ageing and legacy equipment running when originals are no longer available.
Do you 3D print metal parts for oil & gas?
Our in-house processes are high-performance polymer additive manufacturing — engineering nylons, high-temperature and chemical-resistant resins, and carbon-fibre composites. These are ideal for prototypes, tooling, jigs, housings, models and many non-critical components. For metal or pressure- and safety-critical end-use parts, we'll assess your application and advise the right route — we won't supply a part that isn't suited to its operating conditions.
What materials suit high-temperature or chemical environments?
We offer high-temperature resins, PA12 and glass- or carbon-filled nylons, and chemically resistant grades. The best choice depends on temperature, the media involved and the loads on the part — our material guide covers the options and we'll recommend a grade for your conditions.
Are 3D printed parts suitable for functional, end-use applications?
Many are — tooling, jigs, fixtures, housings and various non-critical components perform well in service. We scope every part by load, temperature, media and criticality, and where an end-use application isn't appropriate for additive polymers we'll say so and suggest prototyping or an alternative route instead.
What tolerances can you achieve?
Achievable tolerances depend on the technology, material and geometry, but are typically in the region of a few tenths of a millimetre. For parts with critical fits, share the tolerances on your drawing and we'll confirm what's achievable before printing.
Can you handle confidential or proprietary designs?
Absolutely. We routinely work with proprietary equipment and pre-tender designs and are happy to sign your NDA before any files are shared. Your designs are never published without permission.
Do you deliver across the UAE and to remote sites?
Yes — we deliver across all seven emirates including Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, and parts are quality-checked and securely packed for transit. We can coordinate delivery to your site or facility.
How do I get a quote for an oil & gas part?
Send your files or the physical part, the quantity and the operating conditions via our contact page or WhatsApp, and we'll reply with a fixed price, recommended material and timeline.
