Architectural 3D printing

Scale models that make your design impossible to misread

A drawing explains a building. A physical model lets a client feel it — the massing, the rhythm of a façade, the way light falls across a roofline. That is exactly where architectural 3D printing earns its place.

Orbit3D is a Dubai-based additive-manufacturing studio offering 3D printing services across Dubai and the UAE. For architects, developers and urban planners we produce concept models, presentation models, site and master-plan models, and detailed façade studies — at the scale, finish and turnaround your pitch or planning submission demands.

Because our in-house 3D design team prepares every file before it reaches the printer, you get clean walls, watertight geometry and crisp edges — not the warped, stringy output that gives 3D printed models a bad name. Want the bigger picture first? Read more about Orbit3D.

What we print

Architectural models we 3D print

Whatever stage your project is at — early massing or final marketing suite — there is a model that moves it forward. These are the formats we produce most for UAE practices.

Concept & massing models

Fast, clean volumetric studies to test form, scale and site fit in the earliest design stages — perfect for internal reviews and design competitions.

Presentation & marketing models

High-detail, display-ready models for sales galleries, investor pitches and handovers — finished to a standard that sells the development.

Site, urban & master-plan models

Multi-plot developments, podiums and surrounding context printed as a coherent whole, with removable buildings and phased-plot options.

Façade & detail models

Fins, mullions, screens and parametric envelopes reproduced at high resolution so cladding logic and shadow play read clearly.

Interior & sectional models

Cut-away and floor-by-floor models that reveal internal layouts, atria and spatial flow for fit-out and interior-design reviews.

Topographic & landscape models

Contoured terrain, levels and hardscape printed straight from survey or GIS data — ideal for masterplanning and landscape architecture.

The right process for the model

Four technologies, matched to your model

We don't force every project through one machine. We pick the additive process that best balances detail, durability and budget for your specific model — and we run all four in-house.

01

FDM

Cost-effective for large massing and context models where structure matters more than micro-detail.

FDM 3D printing →
02

SLA / Resin

Razor-sharp edges and fine façade detail with an ultra-smooth surface — our go-to for presentation models.

SLA 3D printing →
03

SLS / Nylon

Tough, support-free parts for intricate, delicate or interlocking geometry that must survive handling and transport.

SLS 3D printing →
04

MultiJet Fusion

Consistent, production-grade detail across batches — strong yet fine, for repeatable multi-unit model runs.

Materials & finishing

From crisp monochrome white to fully painted

The classic architectural look is a clean, all-white model where pure form does the talking — and it's a finish we love. But when your design calls for materiality, colour or branding, our in-house finishing studio delivers that too.

PLA Tough & standard resin Nylon (PA12) ABS-like Clear / translucent resin Composite filaments
Architectural whiteMatte monochrome models where massing, light and shadow read with zero distraction.
Painted & renderedHand-painted materiality — stone, timber, metal, glazing — to match your visualisations.
Two-tone & brandedPlot phasing, brand colours and feature buildings picked out for sales and marketing suites.
Clear glazingTranslucent resin for curtain walls, atria, water features and lighting effects.
Multi-part assemblyLarge models engineered as modules, then seamlessly assembled and mounted.
Bases & acrylic casesLabelled bases, scale bars and dust covers for a presentation-ready, durable result.

Choosing a material? Our 3D printing material guide breaks down the options, and every model passes through professional painting & post-processing before it ships.

How it works

From CAD file to finished model in six steps

A clear, accountable workflow — so you always know what's happening to your project and when it lands.

STEP 01

Brief & files

Share your Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, AutoCAD or STL files plus the scale, deadline and finish you need.

STEP 02

Model prep

Our team repairs, thickens and optimises the geometry for print — covered by our 3D design service. No usable CAD? We can rebuild from drawings or a 3D scan.

STEP 03

Scale & material

We confirm scale, segmentation, technology and finish, then send a fixed quote and timeline for sign-off.

STEP 04

Printing

Your model is produced on the most suitable FDM, SLA, SLS or MJF system — single piece or modular.

STEP 05

Finishing

Sanding, priming, painting, glazing and assembly via our post-processing studio, mounted on a labelled base.

STEP 06

Delivery

Quality-checked, securely packed and delivered or installed anywhere in the UAE — on time for your event.

Architectural 3D printing — FAQs

Can you 3D print a model directly from my Revit or SketchUp file?
Yes. We accept Revit, Rhino (3DM), SketchUp (SKP), AutoCAD, IFC, STEP, OBJ and STL files. Our team prepares the geometry for printing — repairing gaps, thickening thin walls and splitting large models — as part of our 3D design service. If you only have 2D drawings or a physical model, we can rebuild the geometry or 3D scan it first.
What scales do you print architectural models at?
The most common scales are 1:50, 1:100, 1:200, 1:500 and 1:1000, but we'll match whatever your project needs. Buildings and villas are usually 1:50–1:200; plots and master-plans sit at 1:500–1:1000. Larger models are printed in segments and assembled seamlessly.
How long does a 3D printed architectural model take?
It depends on size, detail and finish. A compact concept model can be ready in a few days, while a large painted master-plan model typically takes two to three weeks. Tell us your deadline up front and we'll plan production around it — we work to competition, exhibition and launch dates regularly.
Can the model be painted, or do you only do white models?
Both. Clean monochrome white is the classic architectural finish, but our in-house studio also delivers fully painted materiality, two-tone plot phasing, branded colours and clear glazing for curtain walls. See painting & post-processing for what's possible.
Which 3D printing technology is best for architectural models?
For fine façade detail and presentation models we usually recommend SLA resin; for large massing and context models, FDM is more economical; and SLS nylon suits intricate or delicate geometry that needs to survive handling. We choose per project — our material guide explains the trade-offs.
Do you deliver models outside Dubai?
Yes — we deliver and, for larger models, install across all seven emirates including Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain. Models are quality-checked and securely packed for safe transit.
Will my unreleased project stay confidential?
Absolutely. We routinely handle pre-launch and competition-stage developments and are happy to sign your NDA before any files are shared. Your designs are never published without your permission.
How do I get a quote for an architectural model?
Send us your files (or drawings), the scale, the finish and your deadline via our contact page or WhatsApp, and we'll reply with a fixed price and timeline. The more detail you share, the more accurate the quote.
